14-19 Prospectus

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) is taking forward a series of reforms to education for 14–19 year olds. A critical element of the reforms is that every area of England must deliver a 14–19 prospectus website.

Norfolk's 14–19 prospectus

  • The 14–19 prospectus for Norfolk is called help you choose and is at the web address helpyouchoose.org
  • Information and resources for schools and colleges are in the help you choose Advisers area – go to helpyouchoose.org/advisers
  • The secure area for data editing, applications administration and management information reports is at helpyouchoose.org/providers

What is a 14–19 prospectus?

The DCSF's vision is that each 14–19 prospectus should include:

  • A user friendly, fully searchable directory of education and training available in the area at levels 1 through to 3.
  • Labour market information for the area.
  • Information about the results achieved on courses in the previous year.
  • Feedback about courses from students who have previously taken them.
  • Information about progression routes from courses.
  • Details about how to get in touch with IAG practitioners who can offer support.
  • Information about financial support and transport.
  • The opportunity to apply for courses online through the Common Application Process.
  • The opportunity to post feedback on courses.
  • The opportunity to develop an Individual Learning Plan through the prospectus.

Why are 14–19 prospectuses important?

A good 14–19 prospectus is key to the delivery of

  • the national IAG Quality Standards
  • September Guarantee and the NEET target
  • successful Diploma collaboration
  • impartial careers education (as required by the Education and Skills Bill).
